Vietnam – Singapore relationship: Best time to trade connection

On October 18th, a workshop titled "Trade Connection and Networking Program Between Vietnam and Singapore" was held in Hanoi. The event attracted the participation of more than 60 businesses from two countries.

The event is organized by Intel Media & Consulting (a subsidiary of IMCE Global) and Talentnet Advisory Services. The workshop aims to promote trade connections between Vietnamese and Singaporean businesses. Journalists Nguyen Hoang Phuong - President of IMCE Global, Mr. Daniel Pham - Vice Chairman of IMCE Global, Mr. Nguyen Chi Quy - CEO of Intel Media & Consulting, Mr. Huang Chun Hsien – CEO of Talentnet Advisory Services and Mr. Koh Sze Huan – CEO of Intel Consulting Singapore were present at the program.

Expert Vo Tri Thanh, a former vice president of the Central Institute for Economic Management, and expert Nguyen Van Phung, a former director of the Large Corporate Tax Department under the General Department of Taxation, were both honored to speak at the event.

Speaking at the program’s opening, journalist Nguyen Hoang Phuong, President of IMCE Global, affirmed that Vietnam's economy is growing fast. The Vietnamese export industry has made new strides. The mission of IMCE Global is to open up more and more networking opportunities to help Vietnamese and Singaporean businesses strengthen cooperation and expand the business further.

Mr. Huang Chun Hsien, CEO of Talentnet Advisory Services, spoke on behalf of the Singaporean organizer and stated: On the occasion of the two countries' 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic friendship, the Singapore business delegation is visiting Vietnam to look into investment opportunities, following in the footsteps of the President of Singapore. The program organizer hopes this trip will open up more and more cooperation opportunities for the businesses of both countries.

Business professionals from the two nations participated in the workshop's discussions and expert presentations regarding networking opportunities and considerations for foreign investors in Vietnam.

Vo Tri Thanh, an economics and investment potential expert in Vietnam, shared four critical elements for luring Singaporean companies to invest in Vietnam.

First, Vietnam is a land full of exploration; change and progress occur daily. Second, Vietnam is a business anchor connecting the world with the region’s most significant number of FTA agreements. Third, Vietnam has weaknesses, but it is also an opportunity for Singaporean businesses to take advantage of their strengths to compensate. Fourth, since the late Singaporean President Lee Kuan Yew, Vietnam and Singapore have developed profound strategic ties.

Expert Nguyen Van Phung specifically shared the tax environment and things Singapore businesses should pay attention to when investing in Vietnam. The Viet An Law Firm's Trung Thi Lieu was also invited to the program to speak about and help businesses with their legal questions.

Following the speaker's presentation was a lively Q&A session between businesses and experts, coordinated by Mr. Daniel Pham - Vice Chairman of IMCE Global. The topic of interest to the majority of participants was "Finding a reliable partner in Vietnam".

At the end of the workshop, representatives of Singaporean and Vietnamese businesses showed appreciation to the organizers of the program by presenting some gifts.

The seminar helped participating businesses have an overview of Vietnam's business environment and cooperation opportunities in Vietnam. The program of connecting businesses in the two countries will be continued with a series of business trips.
